A bit about me.

London

Fresh from studying textiles at Brunel University, England and working in a textile studio, I soon realised there was more to life than a conveyor belt of commercial fabric designs. Work experience at British Homes & Gardens not only incited my passion for interiors, it also showed me what London was really made of.

It was a fast, creative and exciting time for me as budgets grew and empty location houses became more available – yes complete empty houses to hire and decorate, heaven! I learnt fast about managing teams of painters, set builders, floor layers, soft-furnishing makers, art directors, photographers, writers, stylists and my in-house team, as well as editing and pitching feature ideas. Everything had to be commissioned and organised to come together for shoot days and then all be returned, taken down, credited and written about for fourteen features a month. I still pinch myself recapping the amazing opportunities I had to create inspirational room after room with London shops and industries at my door, and the pleasure of working alongside some of the most creative stylists, photographers and writers in the London magazine world.

After years of working for several magazines including Ideal Home, BBC Good Homes and British Homes & Gardens, I was seeking a break to refresh and inspire. I thought a small sabbatical to the other side of the world would do the trick. In fact, it became just too tempting to stay on, on the other side of the world …

Sydney

In Australia, I established a freelance business and engaged in all tiers of styling, such as food prepping for Donna Hay, Marie Claire, and Vogue Entertaining & Travel, producing the Ray Morris make-up team for L’Oréal Fashion week, and sourcing the most incredible yacht locations for a Conde Nast traveller fashion shoot.

I worked for magazines including Vogue Living, Australian House & Garden, Home Beautiful, Real Living, Instyle, Marie Claire and Notebook; large advertising productions for companies such as Domayne, Jamie Durie and Lindt Chocolate. Adapting each different client’s approach and style to get their message across successfully was a creative challenge, which I enjoyed.

Perth

And, finally, I arrived at my new home, on the West Coast. I am often asked ‘why WA?’, and I simply answer, ‘It’s magic’. It really is. Perth, Fremantle, has become my real home, a place for my family and a place to explore. (It’s also the hometown of my lovely husband.)

While continuing to work with a large range of clients including architects, interior designers and creatives, and pitching features to leading homes and design magazines, I established the blog, Style and Focus, with photographer Jody D’Arcy to showcase the local creative community.

With several successful renovations under my belt, my natural progression was to move into decorating and home interior design – to draw from everything I have learned over the years, to bring personality into people’s homes.

I now create a balance between interior design, decorating and styling for homes, businesses, designers or brands.
